Oct. 24, 2016 First & Second Round Results 
WAIKOLOA, Hawai'i - The Western Washington University women's golf team is in third place after the first two rounds of the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate played Monday at the Waikoloa Beach Resort King's Course.
The Vikings shot matching rounds of 19-over-par 307 to head into tomorrow's final round in third place. WWU is three shots back of Division I Stetson and 11 shots back of West Region foe Academy of Art (+27, 603).
Sophomore Stephanie Sewell (Kent, WA/Kentridge) continued her strong fall season as she is tied for third with a 36-hole score of 6-over-par 150. Sewell shot a 2-over-par 74 to end the first round tied for the lead in the 31-player field, and ended the day with a 4-over-par 76 in the afternoon. She is two shots back of tournament leader Sterling Hawkins of the Academy of Art.
Seniors Audrey Orem (Bellingham, WA) and Brooke Branigan (Bellingham, WA) both fired consecutive rounds of 5-over-par 77 to ehad into the final round tied for 7th.
"We had a good day on the course and I am very pleased with the performance," said head coach Bo Stephan. "It is an adjustment for the girls to play 36 holes in a day, and I am proud of how they toughed it out, especially during the second round. The conditions varied throughout the day, and I thought they did a nice job of making adjustments and grinding it out."
The Vikings close out the fall schedule tomorrow with the final round (18 holes) at the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate.
