BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- The Western Washington University women's rowing program hosted the University of Central Oklahoma and Seattle Pacific University this morning in the 2016 Viking Regatta on Lake Samish.
The Vikings, ranked No. 2 in the USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Division II Coaches Poll presented by Pocock Racing Shells, were defated by No. 3 Central Oklahoma in all three races this morning (V8, V4, 2 V4). SPU finished 3rd in the 2V4 behind WWU and UCO.
I the Varsity 8 race Central Oklahoma jumped out to an early lead in the choppy conditions and held off a late surge by the Vikings winning with a time of 6:38.6. The Bronchos then edged out the Vikings by under 2 seconds 7:30.7 to 7:32.0 in the Varsity 4 race.
