July 22, 2016 BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Six Western Washington University student-athletes were named recipients of Great Northwest Athletic Conference Faculty Athletics Representative's Scholar-Athletes awards for 2015-16 announced by the conference office in Portland, Oregon.
The award, which began in 2012, is presented annually and honors the most outstanding scholar-athletes at each of the GNAC's 11 universities. To qualify, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.85 (4.0 scale).

Jalbert was a four-time selection and graduated with a 3.94 GPA as a behavioral neuroscience major. She was a two-time All-GNAC Academic selection in Track & Field and a three-time selection to the GNAC Cross Country Academic team.
McMullin and Troupe are both three-time selections, while Stapp, Guenther and Drake were all honored for the second time.
Dr. Bruce Larson will continue his role as WWU's Faculty Athletic Representative for a second term (three-year terms).
A FAR is a member of the faculty at a NCAA member institution who has been designated to serve as a liaison between the institution and the athletic department. The FAR serves as a representative of the institution in conference and NCAA affairs.
The role of the FAR is "to ensure that the academic institution establishes and maintains the appropriate balance between academics and intercollegiate athletics."
