2017 GNAC Women's Golf Championships Results

COEUR d'ALENE, Idaho - The Western Washington University women's golf team couldn't overcome an eight-stroke deficit to start the final round finishing in 2nd place at the 2017 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships played Monday and Tuesday at Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course.

The Vikings turned in a final round team score of 38-over-par 322 on Tuesday, falling short of catching repeat GNAC champion Simon Fraser University. WWU finished the tournament at +67 (635), 19 strokes back of Simon Fraser (+48, 616). Montana State Billings and Concordia tied for 3rd place at +76 (644), 9 strokes back of WWU.

Junior Jenn Paul (Bellingham, WA) tied for 3rd in the 30-player field finishing the tournament at 12-over-par 154 and sophomore Hannah Drake (Pocatello, ID/Century) recorded a 5th-place finish at 13-over-par (155).

Senior Audrey Orem (Bellingham, WA) finished 14th (+20, 162), sophomore Stephanie Sewell (Kent, WA/Kentridge) tied for 15th (+22, 164) and senior Brooke Branigan (Bellingham, WA) finished 22nd (+29, 171).

Simon Fraser's Emily Leung won individual medalist honors with a 6-stroke victory, finishing with a 5-over-par total of 147 (70-77). SFU's Kyle Jack move up to 2nd place with a final-round 77 (+6) to finish the tournament at 11-over-par 153. Paul, and Montana State Billings' Kortney McNeil tied for 3rd at 12-over-par. McNeil turned in the lowest final round score, carding a 2-over-par 73 on Tuesday.

The Vikings, ranked No. 13 in the latest NCAA Division II West Region rankings, will be on the bubble when the NCAA Field of 48 is announced on Monday, May 1 at 1 pm PT on NCAA.com.
