Box Score Aug. 22, 2017 VANCOUVER, B.C. -- The Western Washington University women's soccer team continued to prepare for the 2017 regular season with a scrimamge at the University of British Columbia.
The two teams played the equivalent of three 40-minute periods, with UBC scoring three goals to WWU's one goal. The match was considered a scrimmage and did not count against the 2017 standings or official statistics.
WWU's goal came midway through the extra period when junior midfielder Sophia Kallas((Boise, ID/Boise) connected on a header off a corner kick from freshman forward Talia Daigle(Edmonds, WA/Archbishop Murphy).
UBC scored all three of their goals in the first 36 minutes of the game, with two coming from Aman Shergill. WWU's defense held the Thunderbirds without a goal over the final 84 minutes of the scrimmage.
WWU closes out the preseason Thursday with another exhibition match against Trinity Western University in Langley, B.C. (7 pm). The regular season starts Thursday, Aug. 31 at Notre Dame de Namur.
The Vikings are ranked No. 1 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Division II poll after winning the 2016 NCAA II National Championship last season.
