Sept. 19, 2017 Tournament Results
DURANGO, Colo. -- The Western Washington University women's golf team finished in 18th place at the season-opening Skyhawk West Regional Preview played Monday and Tuesday at Hillcrest Golf Club.
The Vikings finished the 36-hole tournament hosted by Fort Lewis College with a team score of 64-over-par 632.
Newcomer Annie Leete (Jr., Oak Harbor, WA/Eastern Washington) and junior Hannah Drake (Pocatello, ID/Century) led the WWU contingent tying for 52nd place in the 100-player field at 15-over-par 157. Leete, a transfer from Eastern Washington, fired a 5-over-par 76 in Tuesday's final round for the lowest score posted by a Viking in the tournament.
Junior Stephanie Sewell (Kent, WA/Kentridge) and senior Jenn Paul (Bellingham, WA) tied for 65th at 17-over-par (159), and freshman Megan Billeter (Spokane, WA/Mt. Spokane) finished 98th at 40-over-par (182).
"I felt like today was a better performance, and we had some birdies fall, but we were plagued by some big numbers," said 13th-year head coach Bo Stephan. "We have some positives to build on today and will take those into our next tournament."
Dallas Baptist won team medalist honors finishing at 18-over-par for the tournament (586), 16 strokes better than second-place West Texas A&M. Addison Mitchell of Dallas Baptist won individual medalist honors finishing with a 1-over-par 143.
The Vikings return to action on Thursday for a one-day, 18-hole tournament at the Northwest Shootout at The Home Course in DuPont, Wash.
