DuPONT, Wash. - The Western Washington University women's golf team continued its early-season tournament schedule placing 3rd in the five-team Northwest Shootout played Thursday at The Home Course.
The Vikings recorded a team score of 35-over-par 323, placing 3rd in the one-day tournament consisting of entirely GNAC schools.
Junior Hannah Drake (Pocatello, ID/Century) tied for 8th in the 39-player field, recording a 7-over-par 79 on the par 72 layout.
Senior Jenn Paul (Bellingham, WA) and junior Stephanie Sewell (Kent, WA/Kentridge) tied for 14th at 9-over-par 81.
Freshman Katelann Soth (Bonney Lake, WA/Kentwood) made her collegiate debut tying for 21st place with a 10-over-par 82.
Simon Fraser won team medalist honors with a 2-stroke victory over Concordia with a team score of 20-over-par 308. Concordia's Shantel Antonio fired an even-par 71 to take home individual medalist honors.
The Vikings return to action Monday with the first round of the Rose City Collegiate at Langdon Farms in Aurora, Ore. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is hosted by Portland State University.
