GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Western Washington University women's golf team opened the 2018-19 season with a third-place finish at the WNMU Fall Intercollegiate played Monday and Tuesday at the Golf Club of Estrella.
Western completed the 36-hole tournament at 20-over-par 596, finishing in third place out of 18 teams. Cal State San Marcos led wire-to-wire to win the tournament finishing at 1-under-par 575 and Arkansas Tech was second at 6-over-par 582.
"I was proud of how the team recovered during the middle of the round, after a tough start, and they didn't let the day get away from them. That's a real positive this early in the season and it led to a great team finish in the tournament," said head coach
