Jasinsky Named to Top 100 Watch List

WWU's junior standout Trevor Jasinsky part of top 100 Bevo Francis Award Watch List

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University men's basketball junior Trevor Jasinsky has been named to the Bevo Francis Award Top 100 Watch List recognizing the top men's basketball players across the NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA Division I, NAIA Division II, USCAA and NCCAA divisions, announced Tuesday by Small College Basketball.
 
Jasinsky (Camas, WA) is 2nd in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and third in the NCAA II West Region averaging 19.1 points per game. The 6-7 forward is also listed 4th in the GNAC and 10th in the West Region averaging 7.2 rebounds per game.
 
He has scored in double-digits in 15 of 16 games in 2018-19, and has recorded a league-best eight 20-point games. Jasinsky has made 35 3-pointers, tied for 4th-most in the GNAC, and has 111 career 3-pointers to rank 14th in program history.
 
This marks the fourth year of the Bevo Francis Award, with Vikings Kyle Impero (2015-16), Jeffrey Parker (2016-17), Taylor Stafford (2016-17) and Deandre Dickson (2017-18) all being named to the watch list in past seasons.
 
The Bevo Francis Award is presented annually by Small College Basketball to the player with the best overall season in small-college basketball player this year. A committee of college coaches narrowed the list down to 100 players from over 1,100 colleges and universities and took into consideration individual statistics, previous awards, milestones and team success.
 
On February 15, Small College Basketball will publish the next Watch List with 50 players. The list will be narrowed down to 25 players in a Watch List published on March 15. The finalists will be announced in a highlight video that will be released on April 6.
 
The complete list of the 100 players named to the 2019 Bevo Francis Award Top 100 Watch List can be viewed online at smallcollegebasketball.com. Jasinsky joins Saint Martin's Luke Chavez as the two GNAC players named to the Watch List and one of just five West Region players from the GNAC, CCAA and PacWest.
 
ABOUT WWU BASKETBALL
One of the premier basketball programs in NCAA Division II, WWU has recorded a 20-win season in eight of the last 10 seasons. WWU is a six-time Great Northwest Athletic Conference champion and has appeared in the NCAA II Elite 8 three times. The Vikings won the 2011-12 NCAA Division II National Championship and advanced the following season to the NCAA II Final Four. Western has posted back-to-back 20-win seasons, including a 25-6 record in 2016-17 where it won the GNAC regular season and conference championships title, and advanced to the NCAA Division II Championships as the No. 3 seed in the West Region. The program recently completed its 116th season posting a 21-8 record in 2017-18, and have combined for 1,488 victories and a .591 winning percentage in program history.
