BAYAMÓN, Puerto Rico – Western Washington University junior guard Maddison Coleman recorded a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double to lead the Vikings to a 73-31 victory over the University of Puerto Rico Rio Piedras Saturday afternoon to wrap up play Puerto Rico Clásico.

The Vikings held UPRRP to 12 first-half points and never looked back in the 42-point victory to complete the non-conference portion of the schedule while improving to 7-3 on the season.

In addition to Coleman's first career double-double, junior forward Kelsey Rogers scored 10 second-half points. Sophomore forward Katrina Gimmaka and junior guard Emma Duff each added 8 points for the Vikings. All 12 players that made the trip scored at least one point, with freshman post Carley Zaragoza (7 points) and sophomore guard Monique Fierke (6 points) recording career-highs in points scored.

WWU shot 47.5% for the game (28-for-59) and were 6-for-19 from 3-point range (31.6%). The Vikings dominated the boards with a 48-26 advantage in rebounding and dished out a season-high 24 assists.

The official stat sheet showed Rio Piedras with two players named Nicole Maldonado, with one scoring a team-high 8 points and the other scoring 5 points. Overall UPRRP was limited to a 20.5% field goal percentage (9-for-44) and were 4-for-14 from 3-point range (28.6%).Â

The Vikings (7-3, 1-1 GNAC) return to Great Northwest Athletic Conference play in the new year taking to the road to face Western Oregon on Thursday, January 2 (5:15 pm) and Concordia on Saturday, January 4 (4:15 pm).

A WRAP TO ANOTHER GREAT DECADE
Saturday's lopsided victory closed out another successful decade for the WWU Women's Basketball program, with the Vikings going 213-85 dating back to January 1, 2010 for a .715 winning percentage.
