ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Western Washington University women's golf team finished in 7th place out of 19 teams at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout hosted by Cal State East Bay.
The Vikings turned in a final round team score of 27-over-par 315 to finish at 48-over-par 624 for the tournament that was held on the par 72 Corica Park South Course.
Sophomore Megan Billeter (Spokane, WA/Mt. Spokane) led the Vikings turning in her second consecutive top-20 finish tying for 18th-place at 10-over-par 154. Billeter used her long hitting to record a pair of eagles in the round, finishing with a 4-over-par 76 in the final round.
Junior Lacy Sheldon (Dallas, TX/Legacy Christian/Montevallo) tied for 29th place at 12-over-par 156, recording a final-round score of 4-over-par 76.
Cal State San Marcos led wire-to-wire finishing at 22-over-par 598 for the three-stroke victory over Academy of Art.
Sonoma State's Megan Daleo took home individual medalist honors finishing at 2-under-par 142 for the tournament.
The Vikings return to action April 5-6 with the final regular-season spring tournament at the WNMU Mustang Intercollegiate at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona. The GNAC Championships will be held April 22-23 at the Coeur d'Alene Golf Resort in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
