BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University senior center Logan Schilder recorded a 17-point, 15-rebound double-double and had 8 blocked shots to lead the Vikings to a 85-81 overtime victory over the University of Alaska Anchorage Saturday night on WECU Court in Carver Gym.
The Vikings battled back from a 12-point second-half deficit to force overtime, and scored the first six points of the extra period on the way to the four-point victory. Redshirt freshman guard D'Angelo Minnis tied his single-game career-high with 22 points on 7-for-13 shooting, and scored 7 of WWU's 14 points in overtime to spark the comeback. Minnis was 3-for-6 from 3-point range, including hitting the opening 3-point basket in the overtime period. Sophomore guard/forward Jalen Green added 17 points and 9 rebounds, going 7-for-16 from the field. SeniorsSiaan Rojas and Cameron Retherford each had 10 points to round out the five Vikings that scored in double-figures.

WWU carried its momentum from the end of regulation into overtime, scoring the first six points of the extra period on back-to-back 3-pointers by D'Angelo Minnis and Siaan Rojas. The Vikings held a 6-point lead at 81-75 with 1:08 remaining, before Tyrus Hosley hit a 3-pointer to cut the deficit in half. Hosley had an attempt to tie the game with 9 seconds remaining taking a long 3-pointer that was off the mark, but Minnis was called for a foul sending Hosley to the free throw line with a chance to tie the contest. Hosley missed the first, but connected on his next two attempts to cut the lead to one point at 81-80. Minnis hit four consecutive free throws down the stretch to seal the 85-81 victory.
Anchorage went on a 12-0 run early in the second half to pull away from a 36-36 tie taking a 48-36 lead, but WWU responded with a 13-2 run to cut into the deficit and trail by one point 50-49.
