SEATTLE, Wash. – The Western Washington University women's basketball team dropped a non-counting exhibition game against Corban University 63-57 Saturday afternoon in Brougham Pavilion.
The Vikings got off to a hot start leading Corban 13-3 following the first quarter, but Warriors went on a 16-2 run late in the second quarter to pull to within one at 25-24 going into halftime.
WWU again held a one-point lead through the third quarter at 47-46. Corban out-scored the Vikings 17-10 in the final 10 minutes of the contest connecting on five of six free throw attempts in the final 1:29 to net the six-point victory.
Junior guard
Mollie Olson led the Vikings with nine points on 4-for-7 shooting, with all of her scoring coming in the second half. Second-year freshman
Riley Dykstra had eight points on 3-for-6 shooting, connecting on a pair of 3-pointers. Dykstra tied for the team high with three steals with freshman

Katrina Gimmaka and senior guard
Gracie Castaneda each grabbed five rebounds.
Corban was led by a 27-point, 8-rebound performance by junior forward Holly Golenor. The 6-0 forward scored nine of her game-high 27 points during the late second-quarter run.
Statistics and the record for both teams do not count towards the 2021-22 season standings or official statistics.

2021-22 SCHEDULE
The Vikings regular-season 2021-22 schedule features 10 non-conference games (including one exhibition contest vs. Corban) and 18 Great Northwest Athletic Conference games. WWU begins the season playing its first six games on the road before making an appearance in front of the home crowd on WECU Court in Carver Gym December 2 vs. Lincoln University (CA). The 18-game GNAC slate begins by hosting Simon Fraser University on December 4 in Carver Gym and features five of the first seven conference games at home. The top six teams in the conference standings at the end of the regular season will qualify for the GNAC Championships that will be held March 3-5 at Marcus Pavilion on the Saint Martin's University campus in Lacey, Washington.
