No. 13 Vikings Earn 13-Point Road Win at Regis

Riley Dykstra nears double-double with career-highs in points (10) and rebounds (8)

DENVER, Colo. – The No. 13 nationally-ranked Western Washington University women's basketball remained perfect to open the season, defeating Regis University 60-47 Friday evening in a non-conference game at the Regis Field House.
 
WWU improved to 4-0 – with all wins coming on the road – earning the 13-point victory over Regis (3-2). Dating back to the perfect 6-0 2020-21 spring season, the Vikings have won their last 10 games.
 
The Vikings trailed the Rangers 41-38 with 5:13 remaining in the third quarter, but put together a game-changing 10-2 run to take a 48-43 lead heading into the final quarter.
 
Senior guard Dani Iwami and sophomore forward Brooke Walling each hit key 3-pointers during the run to give the Vikings a five-point lead heading into the final quarter.
 
WWU's defense held the Rangers to only four points on 1-for-11 shooting in the final quarter en route to the 13-point victory. Western out-scored Regis 12-4 in the final 10 minutes of the contest.
 
Freshman guard Riley Dykstra set single-game career-highs with 10 points and eight rebounds in 27 minutes off the bench. Senior guard Emma Duff once again led the Vikings in scoring with 11 points and Iwami was 4-for-6 shooting with a pair of 3-pointers to finish with 10 points.
 
Regis was led by a game-high 12 points from Josey Ryan (5-for-11 FG) and nine points and seven rebounds by Morgan L. Smith.
 
WWU held a 40-34 advantage in rebounding.

The Vikings (4-0) closes out a stretch of five consecutive road games to start the season tomorrow (Saturday, Nov. 27) taking on Colorado Christian in Lakewood, Colorado (3 pm MT/2 pm PT).
