BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Western Washington University men's basketball team closed out its three-game preseason exhibition schedule with a 116-73 victory over Columbia Bible College Tuesday evening on WECU Court in Carver Gym.
The Vikings received points from all 12 players that suited up in the 43-point victory, led by a 21-point, 5-steal, 5-rebound, 4-assist performance by junior guard
D'Angelo Minnis in just 19 minutes of play.
WWU's defense forced 29 turnovers, including 22 steals, which led to 45 points off turnovers.
Minnis was one of six players for Western that scored in double figures, with junior forward
Jonathan Ned scoring 16 points on 8-for-12 shooting and senior guard
Daniel Hornbuckle adding 15 points and four steals. Sophomore guard
Kai Johnson dished out a team-high seven assists to go with 12 points, six rebounds and four steals.
WWU combined to shoot .516 from the field (48-for-93).
In three preseason games the Vikings went 3-0 with wins over Lincoln University (95-81), Douglas College (114-71) and tonight's 116-73 win over CBC. WWU averaged 108.3 points per game during the exhibition schedule.
Columbia Bible College (Abbotsford, BC) was led by a game-high 25 points from Keegan Schuurman.
