Vikings Fal to SPU 4-1 on Senior NIght

Vikings fall to 7-5-3 overall remaining in first place in GNAC at 5-1-1

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Western Washington University men's soccer team had its eight-game unbeaten streak snapped with a 4-1 loss to rival Seattle Pacific University Saturday evening at Harrington Field.

WWU celebrated its eight-player senior class in a pregame ceremony, closing out the home portion of the schedule with a 6-2-1 record. The Vikings close out the 2025 regular season with three consecutive road games.

The Vikings were dealt their first loss in over a month falling to 7-5-3 overall and remains in first place in the GNAC with a 5-1-1 conference record (16 points). WWU was 7-0-1 over its last eight games following a 1-0 loss to Westminster on September 20. SPU avenged its 1-0 loss to the Vikings earlier this season to improve to 9-2-4 overall and moved into second place in the GNAC standings at 4-1-2 (14 points)

SPU got off to an early lead scoring just over a minute into the contest. A long throw-in into the 18-yard box found the foot of Diego Pena Salgado, who took a chance with a right-footed shot from 18-yards out that found its way into the back of the net.

The Falcons doubled their lead in the 19th minute on a goal by Orlando Erazo. In transition, defender Lukas Shriner threaded a long through ball to Erazo, who squeezed his shot by the WWU defense for his fifth goal of the season. SPU added insurance goals in the 61st and 69th minutes to go up 4-0.

WWU erased the shutout in the 72nd minute with freshman Zack Robertson connecting on a header off a cross from sophomore Reiley Buri-Brown. The goal was the first in the collegiate career for Robertson and Buri-Brown recorded his league-leading seventh assist.
