No. 19 Vikings Sweep MSUB in GNAC Volleyball

WWU improves to 15-3 overall and remain in first-place tie in GNAC at 9-2

BILLINGS, Mont. – The Western Washington University volleyball team took care of business on the road, earning a sweep over Montana State Billings Saturday afternoon inside Alterowitz Gym.

The No. 19 nationally ranked Vikings improved to 15-3 overall and remained in a tie atop the GNAC standings with a 9-2 mark in conference play. WWU has seven matches remaining in the regular season with five at home on WECU Court in Carver Gym.

Saturday's dominating 25-12, 25-15, 25-9 sweep over the Yellowjackets was highlighted by a team hitting percentage of .326 with redshirt freshman middle Teya Zaddack leading the way with eight kills on 10 attacks (.800).

Senior outside hitter Devyn Oestreich led the Vikings with nine kills (.304) and junior Delaney Speer tallied a team-best 10.5 points with eight kills, two blocks and one ace. Junior middle Emily Vossenkuhl added eight kills and one block.

Junior setter Caroline Hansen dished out 17 assists with senior Adele Holland recording 13 assists, distributing the ball to the array of offensive weapons for the high team hitting percentage. Speer and junior libero Finnley Claeys lead the Vikings with 10 digs each.

"I liked our sustained intention throughout the match. Teya did a great job of patrolling the net and getting up in transition," said WWU head coach Diane Flick-Williams. "I also want to congratulate our cross country teams on their GNAC Championships and thank them for being a familiar face in the stands following their winning performance today in Billings."

MSUB (1-15, 0-11 GNAC) was led by six kills from Allie Dorman and eight digs and seven assists from Kenzie Allen.
