Stump's 33-Point Outburst Leads Vikings to Win

Libby Stump scores career-high 33 points on 14-for-29 shooting to lift WWU to 69-64 victory

LANGLEY, B.C. – Led by a career-high 33 points from junior guard Libby Stump, the Western Washington University women's basketball team recorded its first win of the young 2025-26 season defeating Minot State 69-64 Saturday morning at the D2 Canadian Tip-Off Classic.

WWU (1-1) completes the opening weekend of the season Sunday facing Parkside at 11:45 am.

Stump was 14-for-29 from the field to tie for the 12th-best scoring performance in program history. The Ferndale native and product of Lynden Christian (by way of transfer from the University of Montana) added four rebounds and two steals.

"Libby was unstoppable today. She made great decisions and played so hard," said WWU head coach Carmen Doflo. "Our team did a good job of getting her the ball, recognizing the scoring potential."

Junior guard Demi Dykstra added 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists while playing 37 minutes.

WWU and Minot State (0-2) were tied 33-33 at the half prior to the Vikings taking a six-point lead at 42-36 late in the third quarter. The game was tied 52-52 midway through the final quarter with junior guard Rakiyah Jackson hitting a jump shot to break the tie and give the Vikings the lead for good at the 5:08 mark.

Minot State pulled to within two points at 62-60 with 2:24 remaining, but freshman guard Eden Sander converted a three-point play with just over a minute remaining to put the Vikings in the winning position. Stump hit a jumper for the final of her 33 points with 39-seconds remaining and Dykstra iced the game with a pair of free throws for the five-point victory.
