Five Vikings Earn All-West Region Honors

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Western Washington University women's soccer team was well-represented in the postseason awards from United Soccer Coaches.
 
Senior forward Morgan Manalili highlighted the selections as a Second Team All-American and WWU had five players earn All-West Region honors for the 2025 season.
 
Manalili became a consensus NCAA Division II All-American also earning first-team honors from D2CCA and was voted the First Team All-West Region by USC and D2CCA.
 
Junior midfielder Mie Cairns added First Team All-West Region to her awards list after being a second-team selection by D2CCA and a First Team All-GNAC player.
 
Senior defender Asia Hardin, senior midfielder Claire Potter and senior defender Emily Rice all earned second-team All-West Region honors from USC.
 
The five all-region awards tied Azusa Pacific for the most by any school with 36 total players earning all-region honors.
 
2025 United Soccer Coaches All-West Region: Manalili tied the GNAC single-season record with 17 goals scored in 2025, en route to being selected as the GNAC Player of the Year. Manalili's 42 points scored, including her eight assists, were the second most in GNAC single-season history. It marked the third season of All-America honors for Manalili, who was a USC third-team selection in 2023 and a D2CCA third-team selection in 2022. Manalili finished her stellar career No. 11 on the GNAC all-time scoring list, with 35 goals, 24 assists and 94 points in 89 career matches played at WWU. She led the Vikings to their record 11th GNAC regular-season title, going 11-0-3 in conference play and 14-1-7 overall. An injury kept her out of both the GNAC Championships title match and the team's NCAA West Region Championships opening round match, with the Vikings dropping both contests in penalty-kick shootouts to end their successful season.
 
The Vikings had a GNAC-high five all-region selections, with senior midfielder Claire Potter, senior defenders Asia Hardin and Emily Rice and junior midfielder Mie Cairns each being listed. Hardin broke the GNAC career record with 90 matches played and 8,124 minutes. Rice was equally impactful on the defensive unit, playing in 91 matches and starting 52 while scoring four goals across her career. Potter finished her tenure as a Viking with 17 goals and 11 assists across 89 matches including 86 starts, and saved her best season for last with eight goals and five assists this fall. Cairns earned all-region for the second season in a row, after starting 21 of 22 matches and contributing four goals and an assist out of the midfield.
 
The Vikings completed the 2025 season 14-1-7 overall record, advancing to the NCAA Tournament and the West Regional semifinal before being eliminated in a penalty kick shootout against Azusa Pacific. WWU won its 11th GNAC regular-season title.
