BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Western Washington University men's basketball team put together an impressive 2-0 performance at the 2025 Great Western Shootout with three players earning a spot on the all-tournament team.
Led by an MVP performance from freshman guard Dennis Johnson III and standout play by junior guard Nehemiah Pollard and sophomore forward Trevor White, the Vikings extended their winning streak to four consecutive games with wins over Colorado Mesa (83-73) and No. 10 nationally ranked Missouri S&T (83-76).
Johnson also earned GNAC Player of the Week honors averaging 18.0 points per game on 12-for-18 shooting (66.7%) from the field. The left-handed shooter was 5-for-11 from beyond the three-point arc and perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line. He also dished out five assists and had five steals. In the win over Missouri S&T he shined with a career-high 23 points, including five key points down the stretch to push the Vikings to the victory.
Pollard earned a spot on the team averaging a team-high 19.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, highlighted by his 31-point performance vs. Colorado Mesa on 12-for-13 shooting, including 4-for-5 from three-point range.
White averaged 12.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in the tournament, highlighted by 16 points and six rebounds vs. Missouri S&T, including four three-pointers.
The Vikings (7-6, 1-1 GNAC) are back in action after the holiday break traveling to play the Alaska schools in conference play January 1 (at UAF) and January 3 (at UAA). WWU carries a season-high four-game winning streak into the GNAC games in Alaska.
