SEATTLE, Wash. – The Western Washington University women's basketball team never trailed in its wire-to-wire 81-52 victory at Seattle Pacific University Thursday in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action.
WWU controlled the game from the beginning scoring the first five points and led by as many as 32 points to record the victory over the Falcons to improve to 17-9 overall and remains in 4th place in the GNAC standings at 12-5.
The Vikings had one of their best three-point shooting performances of the season going 11-for-21 (.524) from beyond the arc and committed a season-low four turnovers in the 29-point victory to secure the season sweep over SPU with its 14th straight win in the head-to-head series.
Junior forward Alyson Deaver and junior guard Mason Oberg each scored 14 points to lead the team in scoring, with sophomore guard Libby Stump and sophomore forward Jadyn Watts each scoring 13 points. Watts, a Seattle native, also had nine rebounds to nearly record the double-double. Sophomore guard Demi Dykstra added nine points for the Vikings.
SPU (8-22, 2-15 GNAC) was led by 14 points by Layne Kearns and nine points by Lolo Weatherspoon.

WWU's 81 points marked the fourth-highest total in a game this season and third-best in a GNAC contest…the Vikings improved to 14-0 this season when holding a lead at halftime…WWU has won the last 14 games against SPU…Western committed a season-low four turnovers…WWU tied a season high with 11 made three-pointers and had its second-best three-point shooting percentage of the season at .524 (11-for-21)…four players scored in double-digits led by 15 each by Mason Oberg and Alyson Deaver.

SERIES HISTORY VS. SEATTLE PACIFIC
WWU swept the season series against SPU adding Thursday's 29-point victory to an 83-68 win in Carver Gym on December 7. The Vikings have won 14 consecutive games against the Falcons dating back to the 2018-19 season and lead the all-time series 75-33.

GNAC Basketball Championships – March 6-8 in Lacey, WA (Marcus Pavilion)
|
One of the premier basketball programs in NCAA Division II, recording a 20-win season in 11 of the last 14 full seasons, and 38 times in the 53-year history of the program. WWU has 24 seasons of 20 or more wins under head coach Carmen Dolfo, who is the winningest coach of any sport at WWU and ranks among Division II active and all-time coaching leaders in wins with 708, winning percentage and 20-win seasons. The Vikings have reached the NCAA II Tournament in 20 of 25 possible seasons at the Division II level with three trips to the Elite Eight (last in 2022) and played in the 2022 national championship game. The program has 1,140 all-time wins in the 53-year history of the program, and according to available records, is one of less than 20 women's college basketball team across all divisions and levels to reach the 1,000-victory milestone.
