BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Western Washington University men's basketball program has announced the addition of six players for the 2025-26 season.
Head coach Tony Dominguez adds four freshman players and a pair of junior college transfers to the roster for the upcoming season that features 17 players. WWU is coming off a 19-10 season in 2024-25 reaching the GNAC Championships with a strong second half of the season and finished No. 8 in the West Region.
The incoming recruiting class features four true guards and two forward/guard combos. The new additions will debut for the Vikings during the 2025-26 season that opens play with practices in September and preseason exhibition games in October. The class is heavy with Northwest talent with four players from Washington, one from Oregon and another from California.
"We want to welcome the six new players to our basketball family and looking forward to getting them on campus and get started with our great group of returners. When you include this class with our players that redshirted last season, there will be some very exciting new players on the court this season," said Dominguez. "Last year our team had a great vibe and team chemistry, and we think this group will step right in and contribute to the positive culture. It's a very talented class that we are excited about both as basketball players and student-athletes."

LORENZO GARCIA » Guard » 6-5 » Federal Way, WA » Kennedy Catholic HS
Garcia is a 6-5 guard hailing from Kennedy Catholic High School in Burien. The Federal Way native earned First Team All-League status as a senior averaging 16 points, 9 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.2 blocks per game. His prep career was highlighted by scoring over 1,000 points and earning three all-conference awards. His leadership skills earned him team captain honors as a junior and senior at Kennedy.
Henrikson is a 6-4 versatile shooting guard and forward heads to Western after a standout career at Lincoln High School in Seattle. He was a two-time All-Metro Sound Division selection, earning league MVP honors as a senior in 2024-25. He averaged 23.5 points during his senior season to pass the 1,000-point milestone for his career and broke Lincoln's single-game scoring record with 43 points against Franklin. Henrikson served as team captain as a senior and was also a member of the track & field team.
Johnson is a 6-3 combo guard hailing from Phoenix Prep in Arizona, who also played previously at Renton High School. His club career included stints with Beauchamp Elite, Prodigy Basketball and Renton Select. Johnson was a two-time league MVP earning the award his junior and senior seasons and was a Second Team All-State pick as a junior. He reached the 1,000-point mark for his prep career as a junior. As a senior at Phoenix Prep he averaged 23.0 points per game, 3.0 assists and 7.0 rebounds. He was also a three-time team captain.

Miller is a 6-4 guard that transfers to WWU with two years of eligibility remaining after a standout stint at Modesto Junior College in 2024-25 and University of Redlands in 2023-24. The Modesto native starred at the junior college level last season averaging 16.4 points per game while scoring 477 points in 29 games (26 starts). His season stat line also included 5.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 84.3 percent shooting from the free throw line (91-for-108). He scored in double-digits in all but four games to earn all-conference honors, with a single-game high of 31 points vs. Shasta College. He helped lead Modesto to the Big 8 title with a perfect 16-0 record in conference play. In 15 games for Redlands he averaged 3.4 points per game.
NEHEMIAH POLLARD » Guard/Forward » 6-3 » Tacoma, WA » Mount Tahoma HS/South Puget Sound CC
Pollard is a 6-3 combo guard/forward that spent his last two seasons at South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia. Pollard averaged 11.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game over 60 contests (22 starts) for the Clippers. As a sophomore in 2024-25 Pollard earned First Team NWAC West Region honors and was a NWAC NABC All-American averaging 15.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. He connected on 73 three-pointers to rank 10th in the conference. SPSCC went 25-7 overall advancing to the NWAC Final Four. Over two seasons with the Clippers Pollard combined for 659 points. At Mount Tahoma High School Pollard was an all-conference selection and a member of the 3A Pierce League championship team in 2021-22.
CRUZ VELIZ » Guard » 5-10 » Woodburn, OR » Woodburn HS
Veliz joins Western after a standout prep career at Woodburn High School in Oregon. He totaled 1,557 career points while averaging 21.1 points per game during his high school career, setting school records with 504 assists (5.5 per game) and 354 steals (3.5 per game). He was selected three times as the Woodburn High School MVP and was a three-time Oregon 5A All-State selection, including unanimous first-team honors as a junior and second team as a senior. He was a four-time Mid-Willamette All-League selection with three first-team awards and was the conference Player of the Year in 2024. He was selected to lay in the 6A/5A Best of the Best Senior All-Star Game and the Oregon Athletic Coaches Association 6A/5A All-Star game in 2025. His leadership skills were on display as a three-time team captain in basketball and twice in football and baseball as a three-sport star.
