BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Western Washington University Head Men's Basketball Coach
Tony Dominguez has been appointed to serve on the NCAA Men's Basketball Rules Committee.
Dominguez will serve a four-year term starting in September and ending in 2029.
As a member of the committee Dominguez responsibilities will include approving, proposing, and executing rules changes, overseeing rule modifications and provide direction to the NCAA on playing rules issues. Dominguez will join two additional NCAA Division II representatives as well as six from Division I and three from Division III.
"I am excited about the appointment to the NCAA Rules Committee. After serving three years on the Regional Advisory Committee, I wanted to continue to serve and help shape the game we love, even in a small capacity," said Dominguez. "This position gives a small voice into what we feel is important to our game."
The 2025-26 Season will be Dominguez's 14th season as the head coach of the WWU Men's Basketball Program and 31st overall with the team. In Dominguez's 13 seasons the Vikings hold a 233-125 record (.651 winning pct.), nine GNAC Tournament Appearances, two GNAC regular season titles, a pair of GNAC Tournament titles, three NCAA Tournament Appearances, and a Final Four appearance. Dominguez was a longtime lead assistant for Western prior to taking over head coaching duties and was a key member of the coaching staff during the 2012 national championship season.
