BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Western Washington University women's soccer team is firing on all cylinders in competition, ranked No. 8 nationally and No. 1 in the West Region, and has been rewarded for its hard work in the classroom with 14 student-athletes earning a spot on the 2026 GNAC All-Academic Team.

WWU's selections to the all-academic team are highlighted by three-time award winners Mie Cairns (3.53, Accounting), Emily Fojo (3.97, Biochemistry) and Jane Hmura (3.58, Environmental Studies). Seven of the 14 selections are repeat winners of the annual award presented to top student-athletes and seven newcomers put their names on the elite list.

The Vikings 14 award winners are part of a group of 94 student-athletes from across the GNAC, with Cairns, Fojo and Hmura among just 15 three-time honorees.

To qualify for academic all-conference, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20, must be in at least their second season competing for their team and must have competed on the course during the 2026 campaign. Freshmen and redshirt freshmen are not eligible for the academic all-conference team.

In addition to the academic accolades, WWU is having another fine season on the pitch with a current national ranking of No. 8 in the country. The Vikings are 9-1-3 overall, in first place in the GNAC standings with an undefeated 7-0-1 mark (22 points) and carry an 11-game unbeaten streak into a pair of home games this week.
