BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Western Washington University women's soccer team continued its winning ways earning a 1-0 home victory over Saint Martin's University Thursday evening at Harrington Field.
The No. 8 nationally ranked Vikings improved to 10-1-3 overall with their seventh consecutive victory, extending the unbeaten streak to 12 straight games (9-0-3). WWU extended its leads in the GNAC standings at 8-0-1 (25 points) to close in on postseason berth. Dating back to the end of the 2023 season, Western is undefeated in its last 38 conference regular-season games (31-0-7).
With the defense building towards its 10th shutout performance of the season, junior forward Audrey Holdridge provided the game-winning goal late in the 69th minute for her third goal of the season. Holdridge gathered a short pass from freshman forward Madeline Mays and looped a left-footed shot over the goalkeeper from the corner of the 18-yard box.
The Vikings held a decisive 20-2 advantage in total shots and 6-2 in shots on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Ellie McGowan made a pair of saves while tallying her 10th individual shutout, including a diving stop on a shot by Leia Tupper in the 51st minute. In addition to McGowan's pair of saves, senior defender Olivia Connell logged the full 90 minutes on the back line to lower the Vikings goals against average to 0.286.
"A great win where we got really good contributions from a big chunk of the roster tonight, with depth being a big major strength of our team," said WWU head coach Travis Connell. "A well-coached, organized and motivated Saint Martin's team was tough to break down, but as we were able to grow into the game and have multiple players enter the game and raise the level of play, it wore them down and it ended up being Audrey's goal that got us the three points. It was a total team win."
The first-place Vikings (10-1-3, 8-0-1 GNAC) close out the home portion of the 2026 regular-season schedule hosting Western Oregon on Saturday at 2 pm at Harrington Field. The game vs. WOU will be Grad Night with seven Vikings celebrated playing their final regular-season home game, with a special pregame ceremony beginning at 1:45 pm. The complete 2026 schedule can be viewed online via wwuvikings.com/WSOC.
