BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Western Washington University volleyball fell in four sets to visiting Saint Martin's University Saturday evening in GNAC play on WECU Court in Carver Gym.
The Vikings had their 3-0 home start snapped with the 18-25, 25-23, 24-26, 16-25 loss to the Saints to drop to 6-7 overall and 3-4 in conference play.
Senior outside hitter Delaney Speer led the Vikings recording her ninth double-double of the season (in 13 matches) with 13 kills and 22 digs. Sophomore Aly Skagen tallied nine kills and senior Emily Vossenkuhl and freshman Jasmine Terry both totaled eight kills.
Senior libero Finnley Claeys had 16 digs to continue to climb the WWU career record list after passing the 1,000-dig mark on Thursday. Claeys and Speer both recorded a pair of service aces.
Saint Martin's (6-9, 2-5 GNAC) recorded a .250 hitting percentage – the best by SMU in GNAC play this season – and out-blocked the Vikings 14-7. Olivia Bassett led all players with 17 kills on a .314 hitting percentage and Emily Garten recorded a 13-kill, 10-dig double-double.
