ELLENSBURG, Wash. – The No. 21 nationally ranked Western Washington University women's basketball team completed a perfect start to the season, earning its third victory at the CWU D2 Tip-Off Classic with a 57-39 win over MSU Moorhead Sunday evening inside Nicholson Pavilion.

WWU put together a great team defensive effort, holding the Dragons to 24.5-percent shooting in the game to help fuel the 18-point victory. The Vikings also defeated Midwestern State (59-48) and No. 24 UT Tyler (60-56) to go 3-0 during the opening week of the 2026-27 season. In the three games, Western held opponents to 47.7 points per game and a 28.2 field goal percentage.

Senior guards Demi Dykstra (21 points) and Libby Stump (15 points) once again paced the offense, with a supporting cast of Annalee Coronado (8 points) and Rakiyah Jackson(8 points, 6 rebounds). Dykstra scored 20-or-more points in all three tournament games, averaging 22.0 points per game while shooting 45.7-percent (21-for-46).

The Vikings held a 40-32 advantage in rebounds and scored 21 points off MSUM's 13 turnovers.

WWU led 24-15 at the half following a 9-2 run to end the second quarter and extended that run to 12 consecutive points in the third quarter. The Dragons went on an 11-3 run to cut the deficit to six points at 32-26 in the third quarter, but Coronado hit a three-points to stall the momentum leading to a 38-28 lead through the first three quarters.

The Vikings powered past the Dragons in the final quarter out-scoring MSUM 19-11 to extend the lead to as many as 20 points before settling for the 18-point victory.

MSU Moorhead entered the game 2-0 after defeating GNAC programs Central Washington (74-65) and Montana State Billings (61-56). Grace Massaquoi led the Dragons with 11 points on 5-for-7 shooting.
