Western’s recruiting class includes nine players from Washington and Oregon

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – The Western Washington University Women's Soccer team has announced nine signees to open the 2026 recruiting class that are set to join the program for the upcoming fall season.

 

Head coach Travis Connell announced the initial set of signees featuring all Northwest players with seven from Washington and two from Oregon. The class includes three forwards, four midfielders, one defender and one goalkeeper.

 

The new additions to the Vikings roster include Blake Francis (Lake Oswego, OR), Dara Lauzen (Seattle, WA), Madeline Mays (Oak Harbor, WA), Haleigh Miller (Vancouver, WA), Keira Reeves (Bellingham, WA), Ruby Senffner (Portland, OR), Chloe Van Wey (Spokane, WA), Sadie Wylie (Seattle, WA) and Kayla Yun (Lynden, WA).

Lauzen is a 5-5 midfielder from Roosevelt High School… Led her team to win the 2023 3A State championship and placed 2nd at state in 2022 and 2024… 2023, 2024 and 2025 1st team all conference... 2023 top goal scorer in the regular season… Served as Roosevelt captain her senior year and Seattle Celtics G07 for two years… Received "Most Inspirational Award" and "Sportsmanship Award" at RHS… Starter for Seattle United G08 ECNL… 2025 RHS captain… Also played basketball, "All-Club Point Guard", until sophomore year… Best Buddies Club President… Executive board for Women in STEM club… 3.97 GPA and an AP Scholar.

Mays is a 5-8 forward from Oak Harbor, playing for Oak Harbor High School and Northwest United… 2024 and 2025 Washington State Champions with NW United… 2023, 2024 and 2025 1st Team Selection for Northwest Conference Soccer… School record for most assists in a season, career assists, second most career goals and goals in a season… Northwest United captain since 2020… also played varsity tennis.

Miller is a 5-2 forward from Vancouver, WA, playing for Union High School and Columbia Premier… 2025 Greater ST Helens 4A Offensive Player of the Year… 2024 Greater St Helens 4A Second Team All-League… 2025-26 UHS varsity captain… also played basketball and was on the track and field team.

 

Miller on joining the WWU program:

KEIRA REEVES | Midfield | Bellingham, WA | Sehome HS | WFC Rangers/Seattle United ECNL

Reeves is a 5-6 midfielder from Bellingham, WA, playing for Sehome High School and Whatcom FC Rangers… Also played for Seattle United ECNL… 24-25 and 25-26 First Team ALL-Conference… 2024 and 2025 SHS captain… 2023, 2024 and 2025 district champions… Also, three-year varsity award winner for basketball and four-year varsity award winner for track and field… 2025 NWC Leader in Sportsmanship Award.

 

Reeves on joining the WWU program:

RUBY SENFFNER | Forward | Portland, OR | Rex Putnam HS | Oregon Surf

Senffner is a 5-5 forward from Portland, Oregon, playing for Rex Putnam High School and Oregon Surf… 2024 All-State First Team … 2024 First Team All-Conference ECNL… 2024 and 2022 All-league First Team… 2023 All League Second Team… RPHS captain for three years… Also on the track and field team and cross country.

 

Senffner on joining the WWU program:

"I chose WWU because their soccer and academic programs feel like a great fit for me and Bellingham is a beautiful city."

Van Wey is a 5-6 midfielder from Spokane, WA, playing for West Valley High School and Spokane Shadow Girls Academy… 2025 2A State Champion in soccer… 2024 and 2025 1st Team All League for Spokane Shadow GA… 2024 Intersquad Offensive MVP for WVHS… Also competed in track and field until sophomore year… National Honor Society vice president… Another and father both played soccer for Whitworth University.

 

Van Wey on joining the WWU program:

Wylie is a 5-8 goalkeeper from Seattle, WA, playing for Lincoln High School and Seattle United… Player Development Coach with Seattle United for three years… U-15 Girls' soccer coach… Also played volleyball… Fishing Club, chess club, and spirit committee.

Yun is a 5-4 midfielder from Lynden, WA, playing for Lynden Christian and Whatcom FC Rangers… Helped lead the team to three district championships and second place at 1A state, the best finish in Lynden Christian history… 2025 All-NWC 1st team… 2023 Offensive MVP of 1A Northwest Conference… 2024 2nd Team 1A/2A/3A of Northwest Conference… 2025 Northwest Conference Sportsmanship Ambassador award… Leading goal scorer at Lynden Christian for three years, overall 3rd in goals scored all time and assists with 55 career goals and 28 assists… Cascadia Daily News Prep Spotlight, Whatcom Preps Soccer Player of the Week and Lynden Tribune Player Spotlight… Also 2024 and 2025 basketball 3rd place in 1A state… 2024 track 2nd place at 1A state… Fellowship of Christian Athletes Student Leader for three years… ASB Activities Head.

"I chose Western because it felt right. I had already met many of the players, and they were all super sweet. I also knew how great a coach Travis is because he has coached me before. There was just a lot about Western that seemed comfortable and familiar. I love soccer, and it's a privilege to be able to play at such a high, competitive level. I also really value my family, and being at Western keeps me close to the people I love."
