BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Forward Damien Fisher, who averaged 15.6 points and 8.0 rebounds this past season as a sophomore at Centralia CC, is transferring to Western Washington University this fall to play for the Vikings. Making that announcement was WWU head coach Brad Jackson.
The 6-foot-7 Fisher, who shot 53 percent (139-0f 261) from the field, played in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges Sophomore All-Star Game. The Trailblazers' inspirational award winner, he was an NWAACC All-Academic choice with a 3.98 (4.0 scale) grade point average.
Fisher was twice a first-team Nisqually League all-star at Fife High School. As a senior, he helped the Trojans to a league championship, the school's first district title in 22 years and sixth place at the Class 2A state tournament.
Western graduated just one senior from last season's 16-11 team that lost in the first round of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championship Tournament.
