First-Day Results
CORNING, Calif. - Western Washington University is in fifth place following the first two rounds Monday at the Chico State InterWest Fall Classic being held at the 7,164-yard Sevillano Links.
Tuesday's third and final round takes place Tuesday (7:30 a.m.)
The Vikings carded rounds of 293 and 304 for a 36-hole total of 597.
Host Chico State holds an eight-shot lead in the 15-team field at 5-under 571 (288-283). Cal State Stanislaus is second at 579 (296-283), followed by Cal State East Bay at 593 (296-297) and Simon Fraser at 594 (307-287).
WWU's Kyle Schrader (Jr., Olympia/Tumwater) (70-77) and Mark Strickland (Jr., Mukilteo/Kamiak) (72-75) are in a four-way tie for 12th at 147.
The Vikings' Chris Hatch (Fr., Mukilteo/Kamiak) is tied for 30th at 151 (74-77), Brennan Emory (R-Fr., Mount Vernon) is tied for 40th at 153 (77-76) and David Fonua (Fr., Seattle/O'Dea) is tied for 48th at 155 (79-76).
The medalist leader at 7-under 137 (71-66) is Chico State's Ricky Owaki. Anthony Manguray from Cal State Stanislaus is second at 4-under 140 (68-72) with three players tied at 2-under 142.
