BEAUMONT, Calif. - Western Washington University rallied from four strokes down after 36 holes to win by four strokes in Tuesday's final round of the Cal Baptist Men's Golf Invitational Tournament played at the Tukwet Canyon Champions Course.
The Vikings shot 285, tied for the best round of the tourney, for a 54-hole winning total of 862. Chico State, the first-day leader, placed second in the 11-team field at 866 (293).
WWU's Mark Strickland (So., Mukilteo/Kamiak) and Dylan Goodwin (Sr., Mukilteo/Kamiak) finished second and third in medalist play with respective stroke totals of 212 (71) and 213 (71).
Taking medalist honors at 211 (71) was Chico State's Will Flitcroft.
The Vikings' Evan Needham (Sr., Lynden/Meridian) moved up 13 spots to tie for ninth at 220 (70). Kyle Schrader (So., Olympia/Tumwater) tied for 14th at 222 (73) and Jake Webb (Sr., Issaquah/Skyline) tied for 19th at 223 (78).
WWU next competes in the Saint Martin's Invitational on March 8-9 at The Home Course in Dupont.
