SEASIDE, Calif. - Western Washington University placed eighth among 18 teams at the Cal State Monterey Bay Men's Golf Invitational Tournament which ended Tuesday at the Bayonet Golf Course.
The Vikings shot a final-round 310 for a 54-hole total of 916.
Nova Southeastern FL led wire-to-wire in taking team honors with a score of 885 (301). That was five strokes better than runner-up British Columbia at 890 (298), with host CSUMB third at 893 (304).
Leading WWU were Chris Hatch (So., Mukilteo/Kamiak), who tied for 11th at 225 (76), and Kyle Schrader (Sr., Olympia/Tumwater), who tied for 13th at 226 (75).
The Vikings' Anthony Allen (So., Arlington) tied for 47th at 235 (77), Mark Strickland (Sr., Mukilteo/Kamiak) tied for 51st at 236 (82) and Kyle Lindor (So., Woodinville) tied for 58th at 237 (84).
Nova Southeastern's Richard Mansell took medalist honors at 1-under 215 (73), three strokes better than Chico State's Alistair Docherty at 218 (72).
WWU completes the fall portion of its schedule on Oct.31-Nov. 1, competing at the University of Hawaii-Hilo Invitational.
