HILO, Hawaii - Western Washington University's Chris Hatch (So., Mukilteo/Kamiak) tied for fourth in medalist play and the Vikings placed fifth in the team standings at the 24th Annual Dennis Rose Intercollegiate Men's Golf Tournament which ended Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Waikoloa Kings' Course.
The Vikings, ranked No.20 in the latest Golf Coaches Association of America/NCAA Division II Top 25 Poll, shot a final round 308 for a 54-hole total of 932.
Host University of Hawaii Hilo placed first in the 13-team tourney, taking a three-stroke victory at 916 (302) over St. Edward's at 919 (302). Cal State Stanislaus moved up to third at 920 after shooting a final-round 299, the best round of the tourney; and Wilmington DE was fourth at 929 (310).
Hatch finished at 8-over par 224, ending with a round of 75.
Hawaii Hilo's Dylan Yamauchi (71) and St. Edward's Dillon Van Essen (70) completed regulation play tied for medalist honors at 3-over 219, with Yamauchi winning in a playoff.
WWU's Brennan Emory (So., Mount Vernon) tied for 24th at 236 (79), Mark Strickland (Sr., Mukilteo/Kamiak) tied for 27th at 237 (79), Kyle Schrader (Sr., Olympia/Tumwater) tied for 40th at 240 (75) and David Fonua (So., Seattle/O'Dea) tied for 62nd at 247 (87).
The tourney ended the fall portion of the Vikings' schedule.
