BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Midfielder Gabriele Zaccagnini (Sr., Olympia/Capital) scored on a free kick in the 74th minute as Western Washington University ended its pre-season schedule with a 1-0 victory over Trinity Western University in a men's soccer exhibition game Saturday afternoon at Robert S. Harrington Field on the WWU campus.
The goal came after a foul wide on the left about 20 yards from the end line. Zaccagnini floated in a right-footed free kick which went into the upper right corner for the only goal of the game.
TWU had a 16-15 advantage in shot attempts, but WWU goalkeeper Keegan Rogers (Sr., Portland, OR/Portland Christian) made five saves.
The Vikings, who lost their first two exhibition games, 2-0 to Seattle University and 5-0 at University of British Columbia, opens their regular season with a road trip to Southern California where it will play Cal State L.A. on Sept. 4 and UC San Diego on Sept. 6.
