SMU Player Leaderboard
OLYMPIA, Wash. - With three players shooting red numbers, Western Washington University holds a five-shot lead after 36 holes Friday at the Saint Martin's University Invitational Men's Golf Tournament being played at the Olympia Country Club.
Final-round action Saturday begins at 10 a.m.
The Vikings opened their season with rounds of 282 and 272 for a 14-under par total of 554. Simon Fraser is second at 559 (282-277) and British Columbia third at 564 (280-284) in the 14-team field.
WWU's Anthony Allen (So., Arlington) is tied for the medalist lead at 6-under 136 (67-69) with Simon Fraser's Chris Crisologo (69-67).
The Vikings' Mark Strickland (Sr., Mukilteo/Kamiak) is third at 5-under 137 and Chris Hatch (So., Mukilteo/Kamiak) is tied for fourth at 4-under 138 with UBC's Bret Thompson (70-68).
Strickland and Hatch each shot 5-under 66 in the afternoon, tying for best round of the day.
"It was very solid from top to bottom," said WWU coach Luke Bennett. "Anthony (Allen) finished 3-under in the last four holes this morning and I felt that really got us going, and Mark (Strickland) and Chris (Hatch) were just feeding off of one another. One would make a birdie and the other would match it."
WWU's Kyle Schrader (Sr., Olympia/Tumwater) is tied for 13th at 1-over 143 (71-72) and Brennan Emory (So., Mount Vernon) shot 149 (76-73).
