SEASIDE, Calif. - The Western Washington University Men's Golf team finished tied for 10th in the Otter played Monday and Tuesday on the Black Horse course of Bayonet & Black Horse Golf Club.
Junior Brett Johnson (Ridgefield, WA/Oregon State) finished with a three-round total of even-par 216, carding a one-over 73 in today's final round to finish tied for 9th. Johnson moved up two spots today after entering the round tied for 11th after 36 holes.
For the tournament the Vikings combined for a three-day total of 35-over-par 899 on the 5,982-yard par 72 course.
Chico State bested the 18-team field with a combined 5-under-par 859 in the three rounds. Richard Mansell of Nova Southeastern fired a 3-over-par 75 today, and birdied on a one-hole playoff to earn medalist honors over Taylor Hood of Cal State San Bernardino.
"We got off to an OK start, but just couldn't get anything going and the bogeys just kept piling up," said head coach Luke Bennett. "Brett (Johnson) played really solid golf and battled through his rounds to score very well."

- Michael Butler (Fr., Sammamish, WA/Skyline): T-60th (71+81+77=229 / +13)
- Chris Hatch (Jr., Mukilteo, WA/Kamiak): T-64th (78+75+77=230 / +14)
- Anthony Allen (Jr., Arlington, WA): T-64th (76-76-78=230 / +14)
- Cody Roth (Fr., Bellingham, WA): DQ for signing incorrect scorecard following round 2
"Kind of a bummer way to end our fall with this performance," added Bennett. "But the guys will work on some things over the winter and we'll be ready to compete with the best in the spring."
