BELLINGHAM, Wash. â€" Forward Adam Talley (Jr., Newman Lake, WA) scores three goals to lead Western Washington University to 3-0 victory over University of Mary on Thursday, Oct. 22, in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action at Harrington Field.
The Vikings improve to 5-6-3 on the season, and a 3-5-2 record in the GNAC.
WWU opened the scoring early when Talley intercepted a pass to the keeper and lofted the ball in from 7 yards in the 8th minute. Talley continued to find the net with two give-and-go plays, the first coming in the 46th minute with Conner Pichette (Jr., Tacoma, WA), and in the last goal in the 86th minute when he connected with Leonard Kusina (Sr., Harare, Zimbabwe).
"It was good to get a win," said WWU head coach Greg Brisbon. "We have been working on combining between our midfielders and our forwards, and today we did a good job of that. Sawyer Preston (Sr., Sammamish, WA) played a great game on defense for us today as well."
The Vikings defense held the Marauders to only two shots on goal, both of which resulted in saves by Goalkeeper Tyler Visten (Jr., Mount Vernon, WA) who recorded his third shutout of the year.
WWU plays their final home contest of the year as they host MSU Billings on Saturday, Oct. 24 (7 p.m.).
