Sept. 12, 2015

Box Score

BELMONT, Calif. - Western Washington University suffered its first loss of the young season, falling 2-0 to Notre Dame de Namur University in a non-conference men's soccer contest Saturday, Sept. 12, at the NDNU campus field.

WWU, which fell to 2-1-1, was outshot 17-3. NDNU improved to 1-3-0.

"They're a good team," said WWU coach Greg Brisbon. "We didn't play well the first half and got behind a goal and couldn't get it back.

"We had a good non-conference part of the season, now we're going to get ready for conference and do well in that."

NDNU scored in the 18th minute when a free kick by Matt DeQuiroz landed in front of the net at the feet of Esteban Berumen, who punched it in.

The Argonauts' other goal came in the 76th minute on a penalty kick by Alex Guillen-Torres.

WWU begins Great Northwest Athletic Conference play on Saturday, Sept. 19 (7 p.m.), entertaining Simon Fraser University at Harrington Field on the WWU campus.
