BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Led by five players scoring in double-figures and a 55-point second half, the No. 15 nationally-ranked Western Washington University men's basketball team recorded a 107-81 non-conference victory over Capilano Friday afternoon on WECU Court in Carver Gym.

The Vikings improved to 4-1 with their third consecutive victory, pulling away from the Blues with a 55-point second half to secure the 26-point win in the 2018-19 home opener. WWU led 52-51 with 19:11 remaining in the second half, but used a quick 11-3 run to pull ahead and grew the lead to as many as 31 points. WWU out-scored Capilano 55-34 in the second half.

"I thought we had a really good second half, but we were a little sluggish to start and had to make some adjustments," said WWU head coach Tony Dominguez. "It was good to see our bench players step up and contribute some key minutes to get us going. I thought KJ (Bosco), Tucker (Eenigenburg) and Elijah (Cotton-Welch) did a nice job today."

Junior guard Tucker Eenigenburg (Bakersfield, CA/Bakersfield College) led the Vikings with a career-high 15 points in 17 minutes of action. Junior forward KJ Bosco (Portland, OR/Portland CC) added 14 points and 9 rebounds in just 12 minutes of action. Junior forward Trevor Jasinsky (Camas, WA) and redshirt junior guard Elijah Cotton-Welch (Tacoma, WA/Lower Columbia College) each had 12 points. Jasinsky just missed the double-double with 9 rebounds to tie Bosco for the team high and Cotton-Welch provided a spark with his defense recording 4 steals.

The Vikings combined to shoot 50.6% from the field (39-for-77), including 8-for-26 (30.8%) from 3-point range. WWU was 21-for-21 from the free throw line, setting a program record for most free throws made with a perfect percentage. Jasinsky was 6-for-6 from the free throw line and Bosco was 5-for-5 in his three trips to the charity stripe.

Capilano was led by a game-high 25 points from guard Denver Sparks-Guest.

WWU returns to action Saturday afternoon hosting Langara College in Carver Gym with tip-off at 2 pm. All tickets will be $4 with free parking in the C and 12A lots on south campus, with shuttle service offered directly to Carver Gym. 

WWU will serve as the host for the 2019 GNAC Championships, with the top six teams in both the men's and women's conference standings at the end of the season qualifying for the tournament that will be held March 7-9 on WECU Court in Carver Gym.

One of the premier basketball programs in NCAA Division II, WWU has recorded a 20-win season in eight of the last 10 seasons.
