LANGLEY, B.C. – The Western Washington University men's basketball team opened the 2025-26 season Friday afternoon with a 93-82 setback against St. Edward's at the D2 Canadian Tip-Off Classic inside the Langley Events Centre.
The Vikings were led by 17 points each from junior transfer guard Malachi Miller and sophomore guard Aidan Rice. Junior Louis Grante-Halliday, freshman Dennis Johnson III and Miller all topped the stat sheet with five rebounds.
WWU trailed by as many as 25 points late in the second half (90-65 with 4:10 remaining), but had a strong finish to the contest out-scoring the Hilltoppers 17-3 down the stretch to pull to within 11 points at the final buzzer.
