Vikings Drop Back-And-Forth Game vs. Cal State LA

WWU has three-game winning streak snapped in 78-78 loss to Cal State LA

SEATTLE, Wash. – Senior forward Olivia Hodges recorded a 28-point, 12-rebound double-double against her former team, but the Western Washington University women's basketball team dropped Saturday's non-conference game against Cal State LA 79-78 inside Royal Brougham Pavilion.

The game featured 21 lead changes and 13 tie scores, with the Golden Eagles scoring their final six points from the free throw line to secure the one-point victory. WWU held a 73-70 lead with just over two minutes remaining, but a three-pointer by Amaya Fuentes tied the game. CSLA was nearly perfect from the charity stripe during the contest going 23-for-24.

Hodges was 9-for-17 from the field and 10-for-12 from the free throw line in her career-high scoring performance. The senior transfer spent three seasons at Cal State LA from 2022-25.

All five Vikings starters scored in double-digits with Libby Stump (16 points), Aspen Garrison (12 points), Demi Dykstra (11 points) and Rakiyah Jackson(11 points) accounting for all the Vikings 78 points.

The Vikings were limited to 1-for-13 shooting from three-point range and shot 40.3-percent overall (29-for-72). The loss moved Western to 3-2 on the season, snapping a three-game winning streak.

The Golden Eagles (2-0) were led 17 points by Sofia Fidelus and 16 points from Nevaeh Asiasi.
