Hodges and Stump Lift Vikings to Victory Over Mary

Vikings improve to 6-2 with third consecutive victory in 2025-26 home opener in Carver Gym

BELLINGHAM, Wash. – When you are the reigning National Player of the Week…an encore performance is sometimes hard to match.

But for Western Washington University senior forward Olivia Hodges was up to the challenge recording a 23-point, 18-rebound double-double to lead the Vikings to a wire-to-wire 72-63 victory over previously unbeaten University of Mary to cap the first day of the Lynda Goodrich Classic on WECU Court in Carver Gym on Friday.

The Vikings won their third consecutive game improving to 6-2 on the season in their 2025-26 home opener, holding off the Marauders (7-1) for the nine-point victory.

Just six days after tallying a 37-point, 17-rebound double-double in a West Region win over Azusa Pacific, Hodges recorded a season-best 18 rebounds for her sixth double-double in eight games. The senior transfer from Cal State LA is averaging 17.4 points and 12.8 rebounds per game this season.

Junior guard Libby Stump added 18 points scoring in double-digits in her sixth game, filling out the stat sheet with a career-high eight rebounds and a game-high five assists. Senior forward Aspen Garrison was an efficient 5-for-7 from the field scoring 11 points.

Mary, from Bismarck, North Dakota, was led by a game-high 24 points by Bergen Kinnebrew on 10-for-20 shooting. The Marauders were 7-0 entering the game and listed just outside the national top 25 with wins over Montana State Billings (81-71) and nationally ranked UT Tyler (68-48).
