MONMOUTH, Ore. – The Western Washington University women's basketball team used a dominating second-half performance to earn a 22-point 66-44 road victory over Western Oregon University Saturday in Great Northwest Athletic Conference play.
WWU pulled away from a 27-26 halftime lead out-scoring WOU 39-18 in the second half, including a 19-7 advantage in the fourth quarter. The Vikings improved to 16-6 overall and 8-3 in GNAC play heading into home games next week against Central Washington and Northwest Nazarene.
The Vikings used a decisive 54-24 advantage in rebounding with an 18-3 edge in offensive rebounds.
Senior forward Aspen Garrison and junior guard Demi Dykstra tied for the game-high with 18 points, and senior forward Olivia Hodges recorded her 15th double-double with 10 points and 17 rebounds (5 offensive). Junior guard Joy Haltom added 11 points while going 3-for-4 from three-point range.
The Vikings used a 10-0 scoring run spanning the end of the second quarter (2 points) and third quarter (8 points) to build a 35-26 lead midway through the third quarter. WWU scored 16 of the final 19 points in the game ending on a 16-3 run for the 22-point victory.
WOU (10-9, 5-6 GNAC) was led by 12 points by Triniti Youngblood and eight points from Kylani Rookstool. The Wolves were held to 26.9-percent shooting (14-for-52) for the game (2nd-lowest of the season), including 5-for-24 in the second half.

SERIES HISTORY VS. WESTERN OREGON
WWU extended its winning streak over Western Oregon to 10 consecutive games and improved to 63-11 all-time vs. the Wolves. The Vikings swept the regular season series also winning 62-57 at home on January 1. WWU has won 31 of the last 33 in the series dating back to the 2008-09 season.
