FAIRBANKS, Alaska – The Western Washington University women's basketball team extended its winning streak to five consecutive games and reached the 20-win mark for the season with a dominating 60-28 road victory over Alaska Fairbanks Saturday afternoon in GNAC play.
WWU set a program record allowing the fewest points in a GNAC game, with the 28 points allowed breaking the old mark of 30 set in a road win at Western Oregon last season. The Vikings defense is among the national leaders holding opponents to 55.7 points per game, including a GNAC-best 52.7 in conference games.
With the five-game winning streak the Vikings reached the 20-win mark for the season, improving to 20-6 overall and 12-3 in GNAC play. WWU is in 2nd place in the GNAC standings with a 12-3 record, one game back of first-place Central Washington (13-2). Having already clinched a spot in the GNAC Championships (March 5-7 in Bellingham), Western has three regular-season games remaining with a road game at Simon Fraser next Saturday and home games in Carver Gym against Seattle Pacific and Montana State Billings.
Senior forward Olivia Hodges had another standout performance with a 15-point, 17-rebound double-double – adding to her 16-point, 17-rebound double-double Thursday at Alaska Anchorage. Hodges also passed the 1,000-point mark for her collegiate career – including three seasons at Cal State LA – with 421 points in 26 games this season. Hodges is closing in on the school record of 21 double-doubles set by WWU Hall of Famer Gina Sampson in 1995-96.
Sophomore forward Vivienne Berrett sparked the Vikings setting career high marks with 15 points and nine rebounds in 22 minutes in a reserve role. Berrett was 7-for-10 from the field while scoring in double digits for the third time this season. Freshman guard Eden Sander recorded her first career double-digit scoring performance with 10 points in 20 minutes of action.
WWU's defense limited UAF to 17.0-percent shooting in the game (8-for-47), continuing a trend with the Vikings holding opponents to a league-low 34.0-percent this season. Over the last nine games the Vikings are 8-1, holding opposing teams to 47.9 points per game and a combined .285 shooting percentage.
UAF (0-22, 0-14 GNAC) was led by seven points from Tamai Mancuso and six each by Emily Freeman and Chozen Horn-Young.
WWU scored the first eight points of the game and led 14-3 through the first seven minutes, setting the tone for the wire-to-wire victory never trailing in the game. The Vikings led by as many as 35 points before setting for the 32-point victory.

In 26 games this season with the Vikings, Hodges is averaging 16.2 points and 12.6 rebounds per game, while ranking among the national leaders with 18 double-doubles.
The Vikings (20-6, 12-3 GNAC) return to action next week with one game crossing the border to play Simon Fraser on Saturday night at 5:15 pm inside West Gym on Burnaby Mountain. WWU closes out the regular-season schedule the following week hosting Seattle Pacific (Thursday, Feb. 26, 7 pm) and Montana State Billings (Saturday, Feb. 28, 5 pm) in Carver Gym. All links to follow the Vikings at home and on the road will be posted at WWUVikings.com.
WWU has officially clinched one of the six spots for the 2026 GNAC Women's Basketball Championships that will be held March 5-7 in Bellingham. The Vikings, first-place Central Washington, Saint Martin's and Northwest Nazarene have locked up four of the six spots with two weeks remaining in the regular season schedule. The top two teams in the standings receive a quarterfinal bye. More information is available at GNACSports.com.
