SEATTLE, Wash. -- Senior guard Taylor Peacocke scored a game-high 27 points and senior center Tia Briggs added 22 points as the No. 12/21 Western Washington University women's basketball team pulled away from Seattle Pacific to record its 14th win in a row with a 69-50 victory on Thursday evening at Brougham Pavilion.

The Vikings (20-3, 14-1 GNAC) secured their 34th 20-win season in the history of the program and 20th under head coach Carmen Dolfo. WWU completed a regular season sweep of the series against Seattle Pacific (17-6, 9-6 GNAC) after defeating the Falcons in Bellingham during January. WWU remains one game back of conference-leading Alaska Anchorage (15-0 GNAC) with five regular season conference games remaining, including a matchup against the Seawolves in Bellingham on Feb. 23.

Leading 15-13 after the first quarter, WWU opened the second quarter with an 11-5 spurt, capped by a 3-pointer from Peacocke, to pull ahead 26-18 with 5:26 left in the quarter on its way to a 32-22 lead at the half. After making 5-of-17 (29.4%) of its shots from the floor in the opening quarter, WWU went 8-for-14 (57.1%) from the field while holding SPU to just 3-of-15 (20.0%) shooting in the second quarter.

The Vikings never surrendered the lead after halftime, leading by as many as 14 on three occasions in the third quarter. SPU cut the deficit to 8 points twice in the third quarter but the WWU defense, which held SPU to 28.6% (20-for-70) shooting from the field for the game, did not allow the Falcons to come any closer. The Vikings maintained a double-digit advantage throughout the final quarter, stretching the lead to as many as 19 points at 60-41 with 4:12 left and again to 19 points with the final score margin of 69-50.

Briggs (Tacoma, WA/Wilson) scored 14 of her 22 points before the half and made 9-for-14 field goals for the game. Peacocke (Kenmore, WA/Inglemoor) made 9-of-20 attempts from the field, including 4-of-7 3-pointers, and scored 21 of her points after halftime. She totaled 14 points in the fourth quarter alone while helping WWU pull away.

Peacocke also added 8 rebounds, tying for the team-high total with senior forward Rachel Albert (Bellingham, WA/Sehome) who grabbed 8 boards as well. Senior forward Kiana Gandy (Des Moines, WA/Mount Rainer) added 8 points while senior guard Jessica Valley (Lafayette, IN/Nova Southeastern) finished with a team-high 4 assists.

Peacocke surpassed the 1,700 career points mark and has 1,724 points to rank 3rd in WWU history and 4th in GNAC history. Briggs has finished in double figures scoring in 8 of her last 9 games and her point total Thursday was second-most to her season-high 25 points scored against SPU in the first meeting between the teams this season on Jan. 14 in Bellingham.

The Vikings shot 45.6% from the field (26-for-57) and made 4-of-10 (40.0%) from long range. WWU also made 13-of-18 (72.2%) of its free throw attempts.

The Falcons field goal percentage (28.6%, 20-for-70) was a season low for SPU. SPU made just 2-of-17 (11.8%) from 3-point range. Erica Pagano led SPU as the lone Falcon in double figures scoring with 10 points and also pulled down 7 rebounds.

WWU will take its 14-game win streak, which is tied for 8th-longest in school history, to Saint Martin's on Saturday. The Vikings and Saints are set to tip-off at 5:15 pm.
