SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Led by a 15-point, 11-rebound double-double from Nehemiah Pollard and a team-high 16 points from sophomore guard Aidan Rice, the Western Washington University men's basketball team completed a 2-0 road trip to the Bay Area with an 87-62 victory over San Francisco State Saturday to complete play in the West Region Tipoff Challenge.
WWU defeated Cal Poly Humboldt 83-71 Friday, and with the two victories, have won three consecutive games to improve to 3-2 on the season.
The Vikings led wire-to-wire never tailing in the 40-minute non-conference game, growing their lead to as many as 28 points late in the second half, before finishing with the 25-point victory.
Rice led the Vikings with 16 points on 5-for-10 shooting, contributing a career-high seven assists and adding five rebounds. Pollard made the most of his 20 minutes played going 7-for-16 from the field in his 15-point performance, recording the double-double with 11 rebounds.
Junior guard Malachi Miller and freshman guard Dennis Johnson III both had 11 points, and junior forward Louis Grante-Halliday contributed 10 points and five rebounds in a starting role.
WWU held a 48-34 advantage in rebounding (13-9 offensive) and shot 48.5-percent for the game (33-for-68).
SFSU (0-2) was led by 16 points and nine rebounds by forward Mason Harris and 14 points by Milandev Chatha.
