SEATTLE, Wash. - Western Washington University had an attack percentage of just .142 as it was swept by league-leading Seattle Pacific University, 25-20, 25-22, 25-13, on Wednesday night in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball match at Royal Brougham Pavilion.
The Vikings fell to 10-6 overall and 3-2 in GNAC play.
Seattle Pacific remained atop the GNAC standings and unbeaten in four league contests, improving to 10-6 overall.
Outside hitter Marlayna Geary (Fr., Tacoma/Bellarmine Prep) had a team-leading 11 kills for Western, hitting just .171, and 11 digs. Middle blocker Emily Jepsen (So., Kennewick/Kamiakin) was next high with seven kills on .100 hitting and libero Allison Gotz (Jr., Bothell/Archbishop Murphy) had a team-best 17 digs.
Sarah Risser had a match-high 17 kills and Lindsay Wodrich added 13 for Seattle Pacific, which hit .286. Anna Herold had a match-high 31 digs for the Falcons.
The Vikings fell behind 12-5 in set one, never getting closer than three after that. In set two, Western got out to a 10-5 lead, but the Falcons fought back and won a squeaker. The Vikings scored just four of the first 20 points as it dropped the third set.
The loss snapped a four-game series winning streak for Western, which holds a 35-21 advantage over the Falcons.
The Vikings return home to host arch-rival Central Washington in a GNAC counter Saturday (7 p.m.) on Haggen Court at Sam Carver Gymnasium.
