Earned All-America honors by placing sixth in decathlon at NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

First WWU student-athlete to earn All-America honors in decathlon, finishing with a then school record of 6,678 points.

In 1981, helped Western win its first NAIA District 1 championship by six points as the team’s top point scorer with 22.

Team captain and four-year letter winner

Graduated from Western in 1982, earning a bachelor’s degree in physical education with an emphasis in pre-physical therapy. Named HPER department’s outstanding graduate.

In 1985, received bachelor’s degree in secondary education and began graduate work at WWU while serving as an assistant track coach for weight events and strength conditioning as Vikings extended their district title string to five (1981-85).

Completed master’s degree in 2002 at University of Puget Sound in hospital administration, graduating summa cum laude.

Served as a sports medicine intern and administrative assistant for the Sports Medicine Division of the OTC located in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Won bronze medal for U.S. at Team Handball National Championships.

Three-time Masters track & field national champion.

In 1985, opened The Exercise Center at Fircrest, Wash., now one of the foremost authorities of exercise testing, performance and evaluation in the U.S.

Served two terms as City Council member for City of Fircrest, Wash., and has continued as cities historian.
