Hall of Fame
* Served as WWU FAR from 1985 to 1996.
* Served two-year term as chair of National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Council of FARs.
* In 1955, became first Black hockey player to sign NHL contract.
* Elite player and hockey activist. Playing career lasted 20 years.
* In 1972, became first Black faculty member in Western’s School of Education (now Woodring College of
Education)
* Led WWU’s Student Personnel Administration graduate program for more than 25 years. Nationally
recognized for academic work.
* Assistant training coach for 1980 U.S. Olympic team, “Miracle on Ice” squad that won Gold medal at Lake
Placid, NY.
* Coached WWU club hockey team for nine years, winning four straight Western United States Collegiate
Club championships from 1982-85.
* Helped found Bellingham Area Minor Hockey Association and city’s junior A team (Bellingham Blazers).
* Served as Western Regional Director for Amateur Hockey Association of the U.S.
* Named to Alberta Hockey Hall of Fame - Class of 2023
